One of my all time favorite mottos that I try to stay true to is “if you can’t say anything nice or meaningful, then don’t say anything at all”. I have violated the “meaningful” part of it in my journals in the past, rambling about things even people that really know me couldn’t quite understand. So, having nothing nice and meaningful to report I had decided to upload a “features only journal”. Then I realized I have started rambling about what happened to me on Monday to any deviant who dared to ask how I was doing, so I think I might write an account of it and get it out of my system! After all it was kinda funny!

After an absurdly long period of photographic inactivity during which my camera was taking regular trips to and from work without never getting out of its bag and since I happened to stay late at school doing incredibly boring work, I decided to visit one of my favorite beaches to try and shoot the sunset. I followed the country road and stopped at the place where it was cut off by the local river (what river, lol, just a trickle of water). I know about bad days when everything goes bad, but this was the absolute worst day I ever had in terms of photography. For one thing I had never had so much trouble composing an image. For another, whenever I found a half decent composition it was only to find out that meanwhile the clouds had left my piece of sky, leaving it totally blank. To make matters worse, it was so windy that whenever I opened my mouth to curse (and it was very often) I found myself crunching at grains of sand as soon as I closed it. Very soon I fell into a maddening routine: find some clouds, strive to compose a shot, mount the filters, see they are full of seawater-spray, curse, crunch sand, unmount, wipe, mount and find out the clouds were gone!

After some repetitions of this routine along comes a farmer with two dogs barking their heads off at me. He walks right past me without talking and returns after ten minutes to find me relocating/cursing/crunching etc. This time he decides to be polite and what follows is this cute little exchange:

- Which good wind brings you here my girl? (Greek expression)
- Ahm, don’t know, which wind is currently blowing? I think it blows from the south (and blows all the clouds out of my friggin’ frame :frustrated: )</strong>
- Any idea when you are going to fix the road?
- ???!!!??? (did I do something to ruin it somehow? :fear: )
- Oh, aren’t you a topographer or civil engineer or whatchacall it?
- No, just taking photos…
- WHAT? Is that thing a camera? But they’re making them so small these days; my niece has one that fits in her pocket!
- Yeah, I know, this is really old apparently (what?  Let me see YOU explain to him the facts)
- Awww, I see… (poor thing, ) Well, good luck…
And he left me there with my mouth wide open, collecting more sand :chew:
I took that as a punch line, packed up and left!

Whoa, long journal, sorry guys. Enjoy the features!

PS Just a side note to showcase my dream car, a birthday present from the wonderful grote-design
I’m sure gonna be the first one to buy that baby if it ever hits production
