Flowers of Romance – Winter Waltz [link]

Don’t fasten your seatbelts, just enjoy this flight!

A surprisingly beautiful morning in Kastoria (and as it was January 2, I can say in retrospect that it was the second day of a wonderful year too!). “Surprisingly” because there were no “fireworks” and amazing color display in the sky as we hoped for (huh, don’t we always hope for that) but it really was beautiful in every sense of the word and on all of my senses. Everything was so calm and still and the water of the lake (only one day previously frozen) a perfect mirror. Pleasantly chilly, crisp and fresh and with that indescribable and only perceived on a subconscious level smell of snow recently melt. The ice crunched under our feet and the only sound that penetrated the silence was the cries of the seagulls. Hell, I could even swear that morning had a sweet taste but that must have been the aftertaste of the chocolate I was nibbling at in the car before we reached the place!

Being denied a spectacular sunrise meant a relaxed stroll on the lakeside road, shooting at boats, seagulls and all those lovely little details that sometimes fall victims to the need to capture the sky at its best. And although on such a morning the individual puzzle pieces looked more important than the big picture, when I came to this view I knew I had to make an image of the big picture too. For me it captured the essence of that morning. I thought it held that special meaning only to me but when I decided (after much coaxing from *KirlianCamera ) to display it at the first exhibition I took part in, I was surprised to see that most people felt inclined to comment on this image rather than the other pieces I thought of as stronger and more eye-catching.

Hope some of you get the feeling too, have a seat and enjoy the view and have a wonderful winter!

This one is dedicated to *ZhekyJuraj - Zheky and Juraj, not only because upon finding me they renewed my subscription but most importantly because of the encouraging note that accompanied their gesture! Thank you guys, one of the benches is reserved for you, take a seat and enjoy the silence! :icondoublehugplz:
