Another photo that fills in a gap in *KirlianCamera’s visual diary of our holiday in The Northern part of Greece. Silent Luciditywas the sunset of Day One, this is the sunrise of the same day at Orestiada [link]

I think I’m starting to become infamous for my tendency to write way too much in the background description of my photos, so I’ll try to keep it short this time. This was our very first X-mas trip sunrise and the first time I fully realized what a pain in the @&$# cold could be while sitting there waiting for the right light. Oh, yes, I had been warned and thought I was really prepared. I was very uncomfortably bundled up in multiple layers, feeling like an onion. I even had leather fingerless gloves. FingerLESS is the key word here and that’s how I felt very soon. I had absolutely no command over my fingers, no sense of feeling whatsoever and that can be a real problem while trying to mount and unmount filters or handle your tripod. Hell, I was pretty sure my tongue would get stuck on the frigging thing had I any desire to lick it! Even more frustrating the fact that I was attempting for the first time to shoot landscape and not waterscape and I was feeling literally like a fish outside the water. Anyways, after much locating and relocating and after the shock of seeing my tripod and camera tripping over (saved it at the last instant :phew: ) I finally found a composition that included all the elements I wanted.

Contrast, levels and curves adjusted during RAW conversion in Nikon Capture NX2 .

Hope you enjoy your visit here!

That sunrise must have been stunning. I just love how the hills beyond the trees take on that purple hue. In spite of the warmth of the colours you can almost feel the cold, but you showed the tenacity that we all know you have in waiting for the right moment.

It can't rain all the time... but in Cornwall it'll have a bloody good go!

Lovely, but please don't stop the stories! :) They have all the spice for an image...after all its images and words that always can provide you the feeling of the moment!

For such a cold day it certainly has wonderfully warm hues to it. Lovely shot :)

I´m sorry for my poor English. Please be patient with my late answers. I have to think about everything a lot and it takes me some time to create a meaningful text.
